The Weehawken median household income was $50,196 in 2010.   Most purchases of new and resale Weehawken waterfront condominiums due to the price are from NYC commuters.  The new luxury Weehawken condos on the Weehawken Gold Coast are pricey ranging up to 900psf with full NYC skyline and river views.
The township has a total area of 1.5 square miles .9 square miles of it is land and .7 square miles is water. The Lincoln Tunnel cuts the town in half and through the recent road expansions handles a great deal of traffic that comes in and out of the Tunnel. Geographically, Weehawken has several distinct neighborhoods: the Waterfront, Downtown also called The Shades, The Heights and Uptown which includes Kingswood Bluff.  Most commercial space was on Park Avenue, but now the development of the Weehawken waterfront will include stores, restaurants walking distance to the NY Waterways Ferry.  Headquarters for large financial institutions are also located in Weehawken across from Riva Pointe, a luxury condominium community (www.RivaPointe.net).

Weehawken, once a working port had many challenges in efforts to conversion what was once an industrial area into a safe, green space providing waterfront parks, baseball and soccer fields.
